Takwilan Nas-Nas Sifat Mutashabihat Dalam Kalangan Salaf
The Interpretation of Mutashabihat Verse Among The Salaf Scholars

Abstrak

Isu takwilan nas-nas mutashabihat merupakan satu isu yang berlarutan dalam pemikiran umat Islam sejak kurun awal Hijrah sehingga kini. Ulama Salaf sering dilabelkan oleh sesetengah penulis kontemporari sebagai golongan yang tidak mentakwilkan nas-nas sifat mutashabihat, manakala ulama Khalaf yang datang selepas Salaf dilabelkan sebaliknya. Kesan daripada kenyataan tersebut, timbul polemik dalam kalangan umat Islam hari ini mengenai keharusan takwilan Khalaf terhadap nas-nas sifat mutashabihat adalah menyalahi pegangan Salaf. 

Namun sejauh manakah keabsahan dan dakwaan tersebut boleh dipertanggungjawabkan, perlu ditinjau semula bagi menangani konflik tersebut. Untuk tujuan demikian, artikel ini diketengahkan untuk meneliti kenyataan dan pandangan para ulama Salaf dalam isu berkenaan bagi mengenal pasti sama ada mereka mengambil sikap mentakwilkan nas-nas sifat mutashabihat atau sebaliknya. Kajian kualitatif yang memfokuskan kepada analisis kandungan dokumen ini, mendapati bahawa terdapat dalam kalangan ulama Salaf yang hidup sehingga kurun ketiga Hijrah turut mentakwilkan nas-nas sifat mutashabihat sebagaimana sebahagian ulama Khalaf melakukan pentakwilan. 

Maka dakwaan para ulama Salaf keseluruhannya menolak metode takwil nas-nas sifat mutashabihat adalah suatu pandangan yang kurang tepat. Kajian turut mengenal pasti bahawa istilah Salaf bukan sahaja merujuk kepada tokoh yang hidup dalam kurun tiga Hijrah pertama sahaja, sebaliknya kurun kelima Hijrah yang dijadikan sebagai penamat tempoh hidup para Salaf turut dilihat sebagai suatu pandangan yang signifikan untuk diketengahkan dalam masyarakat kontemporari kini.

Abstract

The interpretation of mutashabihat verse is an issue that persists in the minds of Muslims since the beginning of the century until the present day. Salaf scholars are often labeled by some contemporary writers as people who do not interpret mutashabihat verse, while Khalaf scholars who come after the Salaf are labeled otherwise. As a result of this labeling, there are polemics which arise among the present Muslims that the interpretation of the mutashabihat verse by the Khalaf is against the Salaf’s beliefs. 

However, the extent and validity of such claims need to be reviewed to deal with the conflict. For this purpose, this article intends to examine the statements and opinions of the Salaf scholars on this issue in order to identify whether or not they take the attitude to interpret the mutashabihat verse. Qualitative studies which focus on the analysis of the content of this document has found that some of the Salaf scholars who lived until the third Hijrah century also interpreted the mutashabihat verse in the similar way as the Khalaf scholars.

Therefore, the claim that Salaf scholars reject the interpretation of the mutashabihat verse can be considered as an inaccurate view. The study also identifies that the term Salaf does not only refer to those who lived in the first three centuries of Hijrah, but also the people who lived up to the 5th Century of Hijrah. This point of view is significant to be known by our Muslim brothers of this contemporary society.
